Our Process

TruLife Books · Our Publishing Process

From Your Manuscript
to Your Readers

Writing a book is a meaningful accomplishment. Publishing it takes a clear plan, careful preparation, and a team that understands what you want to achieve.

At TruLife Books, we guide authors through the publishing process with personal attention and practical support. Whether you publish through a Traditional, Hybrid, or Self Publishing agreement, our process starts with understanding your book—and you.

  1. Submit Your Book

Tell us about your manuscript and your goals.

The first step is to introduce us to your project. Share what your book is about, who it is written for, and where you are in the writing process.

We also want to know what you hope publishing will accomplish. Are you reaching readers with a story? Sharing your expertise? Supporting your business? Building a platform as an author or speaker?

If you already have an audience, tell us how you connect with them through your website, email list, social media, speaking engagements, or professional network.

Your next step: Complete our book submission form and provide the requested project information.

  2. Review Your Project

Consider the book, the audience, and the opportunity.

We review your submission to understand the manuscript, its intended readers, and its publishing needs. We consider how the project fits with TruLife Books and what support may be needed to prepare it for publication.

During this stage, we may request additional material or discuss your project with you. Together, we clarify your goals, your audience, and your plans for reaching readers.

What this stage establishes: Whether the project is a good fit and which publishing approach may be appropriate.

  3. Agree on a Publishing Plan

Define the partnership before work begins.

If we move forward together, we establish the publishing arrangement that fits your project:

    Traditional Publishing

TruLife Books covers publishing costs for selected authors with an established platform and audience.

    Hybrid Publishing

TruLife Books and the author each cover specific, agreed expenses.

    Self Publishing

The author funds publishing and promotion, often to support a business or professional goal.

Your proposal and agreement define the included services, financial responsibilities, rights, compensation, and author commitments. We also discuss the anticipated schedule and the materials needed to begin.

What you can expect: A clear understanding of the work involved and each party’s responsibilities.

  4. Prepare the Manuscript

Build a strong foundation for your finished book.

Once the agreement is in place, we gather the manuscript and supporting materials needed for production. These may include your author biography, acknowledgments, photographs, illustrations, and any required permissions.

Editorial work follows the scope of your agreement. Depending on the project, that may involve manuscript development, copyediting, proofreading, or a combination of services.

Your participation matters during this stage. Timely revisions, responses, and delivery of a complete manuscript help keep the project moving.

Our shared goal: A manuscript ready for design and production.

  5. Design and Produce the Book

Give your words a professional presentation.

We develop the book’s visual presentation, including the cover and interior layout, according to the publishing plan.

The design should reflect the content, appeal to the intended readers, and support a comfortable reading experience. Print and ebook editions are prepared where included in your agreement.

You review the materials provided at the agreed stages and supply feedback before production is finalized. We also prepare publishing details such as the book description, author information, categories, and ISBN arrangements where applicable.

The result: Finished book files prepared for the agreed publishing formats.

  6. Publish and Arrange Distribution

Make your book available to readers.

After final reviews and approvals, we move the book into publication and set up the sales and distribution channels included in your agreement.

Depending on your publishing plan, these may include online retailers, the TruLife Books bookstore, and distribution services that allow bookstores and libraries to order your book.

Availability through a distributor allows a book to be ordered; individual retailers, bookstores, and libraries decide which titles they stock.

Our goal: Accurate listings and a clear path for readers to find and purchase your book.

  7. Prepare for Launch and Promotion

    Help readers discover your book.

Promotion works best when it begins before publication and continues after launch. We coordinate the promotional services included in your agreement and discuss how your own audience, relationships, and activities can support the release.

Depending on the plan, launch preparation may include an author or book page, promotional copy, retailer links, social media materials, or outreach activities.

Authors play an active role in connecting with readers. Your email list, professional network, events, and online presence can all help introduce your book to the people most likely to value it.

Our shared focus: A coordinated launch and practical opportunities to build awareness.

  8. Continue the Author Relationship

Publication is a milestone—and the beginning of what comes next.

After your book is published, we continue the relationship according to your agreement. This may include communication about your title, royalty accounting and statements, and discussion of additional promotional opportunities.

Where applicable, your author portal provides access to book status and royalty information.

As your audience grows and your goals develop, we can discuss future books and additional services that support your next steps.

What matters to us: Clear communication and a publishing relationship that treats your work with care.

Planning your publication

How Long Does Publishing Take?

Every book has different needs. The schedule depends on the manuscript’s readiness, the level of editorial work, design requirements, publishing formats, and how quickly materials and feedback are provided.

We discuss an anticipated timeline during planning and communicate about changes that affect the schedule.

Working together

A Partnership Built on Communication

Throughout the process, we ask authors to provide complete materials, respond to questions, review work carefully, and participate in the promotional activities defined in their agreement.

In return, our focus is to explain the next steps, clarify responsibilities, and keep the project moving toward publication.

The services and stages that apply to your book are determined by your publishing agreement.
