The TruLife Books Publishing Process

From your initial manuscript submission to publication, distribution, and promotion, we provide the professional guidance needed to bring your book to life.

Submit Your Book

From Manuscript to Marketplace

Publishing a book can feel overwhelming, but it does not have to be. TruLife Books guides authors through every stage with clear communication, professional support, and a practical plan for reaching readers.

How Our Publishing Process Works

Every book is different, but these nine steps provide a clear path from your original idea or manuscript to a professionally published book.

1

Submit Your Book for Consideration

The process begins when you submit your manuscript, proposal, or book concept for review.

We take time to learn about:

  • Your book and its central message
  • Your goals as an author
  • The audience you want to reach
  • The current condition of your manuscript
  • Your preferred publishing timeline
  • Your plans for promoting and selling the book

You do not need to have every detail figured out before contacting us. We will help you understand what may be needed to move the project forward.

2

Manuscript and Project Review

Our team reviews the materials you provide to determine whether the project is a good fit for TruLife Books and which publishing services may be appropriate.

  • The strength and clarity of the book concept
  • The manuscript’s level of completion
  • Editing and formatting needs
  • The book’s potential readership
  • Comparable titles and market positioning
  • Cover, branding, and presentation opportunities

Once the review is complete, we discuss our recommendations and the possible next steps with you.

3

Select a Publishing Plan

We help you select a publishing plan based on your manuscript, goals, timeline, and budget.

  • Developmental or content editing
  • Copyediting and proofreading
  • Custom cover design
  • Interior book design and formatting
  • ISBN assignment
  • Copyright registration assistance
  • Print and ebook production
  • Retail distribution
  • Marketing and promotional support

You receive a clear explanation of the services included before work begins.

4

Prepare the Manuscript

Before the book can be designed, the manuscript must be professionally prepared for publication.

  • Organizing chapters and sections
  • Improving clarity and consistency
  • Correcting grammar, spelling, and punctuation
  • Reviewing citations, references, and permissions
  • Preparing photographs, illustrations, or charts
  • Finalizing front and back matter
  • Completing the author biography and acknowledgments

You remain involved throughout the editing process and have the opportunity to review proposed changes.

5

Design the Cover and Interior

Once the manuscript is ready, we transform it into a professionally designed book.

Cover Design

We create a cover that reflects the book’s subject, tone, genre, message, and intended audience.

Interior Design

We format the manuscript for readability and prepare it for the selected print dimensions and digital formats.

You will have an opportunity to review and approve the design before the book is finalized.

6

Review and Approve the Proof

Before publication, you receive a printed proof or digital proof of the completed book.

  • The front, back, and spine of the cover
  • Interior formatting and page order
  • Spelling and final text corrections
  • Photographs, illustrations, and captions
  • Author information
  • Pricing and book details

Final corrections are completed before the book is approved for production. Your book will not be released until you approve the final version.

7

Publish and Distribute the Book

After final approval, your book is prepared for publication and distribution.

  • Amazon
  • Barnes & Noble
  • Independent bookstores
  • Online book retailers
  • Libraries
  • Ingram’s distribution network
  • The TruLife Books website
  • Author events and direct sales

Distribution availability allows retailers and libraries to locate and order your title through their standard purchasing systems.

8

Launch and Promote the Book

Publishing is an important milestone, but reaching readers requires an ongoing promotional effort.

  • Book landing pages and author websites
  • Press releases
  • Social media content and promotional graphics
  • Email announcements
  • Editorial book reviews
  • Bookstore outreach
  • Media and podcast outreach
  • Author interviews
  • Speaking and event materials

We help identify promotional activities that fit your audience, budget, and long-term goals.

9

Continue Building Your Audience

A book can continue creating opportunities long after its initial release.

  • Speaking engagements
  • Workshops and seminars
  • Book clubs
  • Libraries and schools
  • Professional organizations
  • Community events
  • Online content
  • Direct-to-reader sales
  • Bulk and organizational sales

TruLife Books can remain a resource as you build awareness, reach new readers, and expand the impact of your work.

Use Crowdfunding to Help Pay for Publishing

Some authors choose to use crowdfunding or advance book sales to cover part or all of their publishing costs.

Friends, family members, professional contacts, readers, and other supporters can preorder the book before it is published. In some cases, selling approximately 100 advance copies may be enough to cover many of the essential costs associated with publishing.

A crowdfunding campaign can also help demonstrate demand, establish an early audience, and create momentum before the official release.

Professional Support at Every Stage

Our role is to make the publishing process understandable, organized, and collaborative while helping you produce a book that reflects your vision.

Clear Communication You receive updates, guidance, and opportunities to ask questions throughout the project.
Author Involvement You review the work, provide feedback, and approve the major creative and production decisions.
Professional Production Editing, design, formatting, distribution, and promotional services are coordinated around your publishing plan.

You Are Part of the Process

We believe authors should understand what is happening with their books. Throughout the project, you will have opportunities to review the work, ask questions, provide feedback, and approve major decisions. You retain an active role while receiving the professional support needed to move your book from manuscript to publication.
